types of ID
The proper types of ID are driver licenses, passports, military ID’s.
The identification must be current or issued within the last 5 years. It must contain a photograph, physical description, and signature of the person whose identity is being confirmed.

Credible Identifying Witness
When a signer appears before a Notary Public without proper identification, one of the methods to identify the signer is through a credible identifying witness. The witness must swear or affirm before the Notary that
|
|
- the principal signer appearing before the Notary is the person that is named in the document
- the principal signer is personally known to the witness;
- it is the witness’ belief that it is, at the very least, extremely difficult of the principal signer to obtain proper identification
- the principal signer does not possess any acceptable identification that the Notary can use to verify his or her identity;
- and that the witness has no financial or beneficial inters tint he document, and is not named in the document.
|
In most instances, there should be 2 (two) of such credible witnesses who must personally know the principal signer and both of those witnesses must be known (or identified) to the Notary Public.
Notarization does not make document True or Legal. It merely acknowledges that the signing was
properly executed by the person whose signature had been required. |
