Civil Ceremonies
Civil Ceremonies are performed by officiants without any religious
denomination. Marriage License is valid for 90 days from the
day of issuance or as otherwise indicated on the license. You
must have your marriage solemnized within these 90 days by an
officiant (denominated or non-denominated, i.e. religious or
not religious) prior to registering it with the L.A. County
Registrar/Recorder’s Office. Civil Ceremony will satisfy
this requirement.
A Proxy marriage
A Proxy marriage is a marriage where the parties were not physically
present in the presence of each other. It also means that during
solemnization of the marriage someone stands for the other party
based upon a power of attorney or an agent acting on behalf
of one or both parties. Proxy marriages are absolutely illegal
in the State of California. |
